The AI wars are getting more exciting day by day. ChatGPT took the world by storm, reaching 100 million users in just 2 months. In comparison, TikTok took 9 months to reach 100 million users and Instagram took 2.5 years.

ChatGPT turned an existential threat to Google's search dominance, and they had to act. First, they got back the original founders - Page and Brin to pitch in. And yesterday they announced their ChatGPT competitor - Bard.

I think they can beat ChatGPT. Let me tell you how.

You see, Google is one of the most advanced AI companies in the world. If you have been following the google IO event,
for almost a decade, it starts with AI and ended with AI. But that doesn’t mean they can’t be beaten in their game. But still, I believe google will win.

🧐  Why Google will win?

Google is the index of the internet. It has the most powerful crawler, which indexes almost every new piece of content on the internet in a few days. And in contrast, the ChatGPT language model only has information till 2021. That means it doesn’t know about things that happened recently. Eg, iPhone 14 or the recent China Covid outbreak. This is a massive restriction.

Google has an extensive index of the internet, allowing it to train and update in real time about current events, making the information it provides more relevant and up-to-date.

Further, Google has invested $300 million in AI company, Anthropic - developers of ChatGPT competitor Claude.

🤔  The AI Games: Microsoft vs Google

The battle is clear. It is not ChatGPT vs Bard. It is Microsoft who have invested in OpenAI and are going to integrate ChatGPT with Bing vs Google - whose search dominance is under threat. So what more does Google have in its arsenal?

Google plans to use its already existing AI - Lamda. This is the same technology that it uses for google assistant (Ok! Google) which is already used by millions all over the world. And another massive advantage is pricing. Since Google is an ad company, Its job is to get more people to use google products for free and monetise via ads. What that would mean is Bard would be free to use, While ChatGPT has already launched its paid plan at 20$ per month.

Microsoft is not far behind. They have integrated OpenAI's GPT technology into Microsoft Teams in a premium tier. And they are going to invest more in OpenAI.

This would be the first time google would react so quickly to potential competition. Bard is still in private beta, and I can’t wait to try it out and compare it with ChatGPT.

Grab your popcorn, for the AI wars have just begun.
