AutoGPT - The next big thing in AI

Move on, ChatGPT! It is the time for AutoGPT. In the past week, the interest in AutoGPT has blown up. In today’s issue, I will try to unveil the hype behind AutoGPT and why people are so excited about it.

AutoGPT is more goal-driven than prompt driven. What does this mean? You give the AI agent a simple goal - and the agent figures out the intermediate steps, prioritizes them, and executes them autonomously. (That is the Auto in AutoGPT). In contrast, for normal ChatGPT, you must do back-and-forth prompting to reach your goal.

Working on AutoGPT is not as easy as ChatGPT. You need to have some technical knowledge - a bit of Python and how to call APIs. But the early signals from AutoGPT are that we are onto something big here.

👇 Getting started with AutoGPT

AutoGPT is your AI wingman, covering everything from research and coding to giving your story that oomph it needs.

🛠️ What You Need: You'll want to have Python, an OpenAI API key, and a Pinecone API key in your toolkit. Oh, and for speech that's so AI-generated it's almost human, grab an eleven Labs API key.

🤖 Step 1: Name Your AI Sidekick

First up, give your AI buddy a name and task. Research superstar? Python code whiz? Story-levelling genius? Be specific about what you want your AI comrade-in-arms to achieve for the best results.

🎯 Step 2: Goal-Setting Gurus

Lay down those benchmarks! Be it finding information, flexing data-saving skills, running code, or editing text, your AI needs direction. Give it details on outputs and any other must-do steps.

🚀 Step 3: Take the Leap!

With your AI's role well-defined and goals in place, it's go time! Stay on standby as your AI springs into action, taking commands and steps to complete the tasks. Keep an eye out and be ready to jump in if things go haywire.

An example workflow:

Name: ChefGPT

Role: An AI designed to find an ordinary recipe on the web, and turn it into a Michelin Star quality recipe.

Goal 1: Find a simple recipe online

Goal 2: Turn this simple recipe into a Michelin Star quality version.

🤔 What did AutoGPT get done so far?

Here are AutoGPT's killer features, designed to give you that massive increase in productivity:

  • Set your goals and watch AutoGPT work tirelessly to make it happen.
  • Unleash the power of multiple GPT-4s, all collaborating on a single mission.
  • With internet access and file reading/writing skills, the sky's the limit.
  • Track past work with AI that remembers what's already been done.

Memory and web search ability are the key advantages AutoGPT has over ChatGPT.

⚠️ The Catch: AutoGPT is still a work in progress, so you might see it get stuck or struggle with the next steps.

💡 But, things are evolving fast, and the potential is incredible. Check out these interesting experiments on AutoGPT:

  • Scoping out prime prospects for a SaaS company.
  • Diving deep into the world of headphones for product research
  • Summing up current events for an AI-generated podcast
  • Investigating waterproof shoes to fulfil a fictional shoe company's wildest dreams.
